Help your parcels flow more smoothly through customs with these easy tips:
Food Items (small quantities only):
- Homemade: Include a copy of the ingredients list.
- Pre-Packaged: Photocopy the ingredients list before packing it up.
Examples of some prohibited items to the US:
Cooked eggs, foods such as breakfast tacos, egg plates, and hard boiled eggs.
The regulations regarding meat and meat products are stringent, however you may not import: fresh, dried, or canned meats or meat products or food that have been prepared with meat.
Electronics:
It’s a good idea to include as much product information from the electronic as possible when shipping internationally, whether it’s a photocopy or written out.
Gifts:
Indicate what gifts are for what recipient, whether it’s different homes or the same home.
Also when sending gifts made sure you confirm the individual gift exemption for each country before shipping. If the value of the shipping content exceeds the individual gift exemption limit, the shipment may be assessed duties and/or taxes that the receiver would have to pay before delivery.
Each country has it’s own limitations for what can be shipped into that country, so make sure you confirm with that country’s customs for regulations and limitations about prohibited items before you ship.
