What’s in A Name?

Hello. My name is Jane Doe from XYZ Company. That’s perfect if you get the opportunity to introduce yourself. But how often are you at a business function for business that you are not able to speak to everyone present? How often are you at a business function with people that have never met you?

More often than not, you cannot speak to everyone to introduce yourself. This is where a name badge comes in to play. As you stroll through the room and speak with people, those that are not able to speak to you can see your name badge and at least have the opportunity to find out who you are and what company you represent. Now these people have a face to go with the name and company – even if they don’t get to speak to you and you to them.

Recognition, promotion, awareness, opportunity all come knocking when you are visible! Maybe John Smith has a project he needs a company like yours to do. He happens to notice your name badge, realizes he needs your services and now waits to talk to you when you are finished your present conversation. Perfect – a new lead. All because of a name badge!

Now, take the retail store. Customers feel much better when they can call your employees by name. Why not empower these customers to do so? Providing a name tag for each of your employees is a smart idea and relatively inexpensive . Now your customers can feel comfortable with who they are dealing with as they know their name. You will also be rewarded in the end as the business owner because praise and heaven forbid complaints will now come with a name attached.

“Dear XYZ Company;

I recently had the pleasure of being in your store and found the experience most welcoming. Your employee, Peter Ball was very helpful and helped me make an informed decision about purchasing the XYZ product. I will recommend your store to my friends – and more than likely I will ask that they deal with Peter. “
Sincerely,

John Smith.”

You have signs on your store front, logos on your vehicles, advertising in newspapers – the people representing your product are just as important, if not more so than your facility, advertising, vehicles, etc. The people close the sales. The people should be branded as well.

Oh – and don’t worry about pins in clothing. While many badges are still made this way – there are magnetic badges, and hanging badges – there are so many choices…
